  • question: Can this be configured without the cloud?

    répondre: No. The switches have local manageability, however the access points must be configured via the Aruba InstantOn online portal.
  • question: Apart from the Adopter is there any other differences between this and a Global version?

    répondre: The rules for Wi-Fi devices such as these Wi-Fi Access Points vary by country as to Wi-Fi radio bands and power levels. The US version complies with US rules and has regulatory approvals necessary for sale and use in the US. The global version -- indicated with RW for "rest of world" -- has settings which comply with the different country-level requirements for Wi-Fi, and have been approved for use and sale in those countries. On start-up, country of operation is identified and device will adjust so that it complies with local rules. Note that the US model is not approved by country regulators for sale or use outside the US. (I am Aruba employee)
  • question: Does this need to be hardwired?

    répondre: It will work as POE or with a separate power adapter. But you must supply power one of the two way

The Aruba Instant On AP12 Access Point is a solid choice for small businesses and home networks, with easy plug and play setup and excellent performance. It can be powered via POE or a power adapter and works well with any router. The product comes with a bracket for wall or ceiling mounting and a DC power adapter and cord. The access points must be configured via the Aruba InstantOn online portal as they cannot be configured without the cloud. One drawback noted by a customer was that the APs had a weaker radio signal beyond 20 feet. The product was said to be well-built and excellent for the price, surpassing Unify gear in quality for the same price range. On the downside, a customer experienced a failure after four months and was initially refused a replacement, having to submit an invoice to obtain one.
